I had a chance to speak to Homer Plessy before the train ride. I asked him why he would do this voluntarily and put himself at risk of being imprisoned. He simply said he was doing it for his country, to protect his rights and others. Honestly, I couldn't believe the bravery in this man. I know I couldn't do it but at least I was playing a role. I know that, that helps me go to sleep every night.
